It was a HUGE week in comics and pop culture. There is a ton of Movie and TV news including the debut of Preacher on AMC, the Flash season finale.  The comics world wasn’t quiet either with Comixology Unlimited, the DC Rebirth launch…and a brand new logo for DC Comics.

Plus Brian talk a little bit about his interview with Bryan Lee O’Malley at the Arts Project, the Ting Comics and Arts Festival, and much much more.

Brian and Liam’s Comic Picks of the Week:

Liam’s Pick of the week: Dark Horse Conan

Brian’s Pick of the week: DC Universe Rebirth #1

The Ting Comic Arts Festival

Ting Comics and Arts Festival ended May 21st. Merle “Ting” Tingley was an editorial cartoonist at the London Free Press from 1948 – 1986. He was famous for his little “Luke Worm” character. Diana Tamblyn put this festival together to celebrate the artists and writers from London and the surrounding area. The talent that has come out of this area is pretty cool and includes: Jeff Lemiere, Marc Bell, Scott Chantler, Tim Levins, Seth, J. Bone, David Collier, and of course Bryan Lee O’Malley.

Brian had the opportunity to interview Bryan Lee O’Malley at the Arts Project last week. Unfortunately the interview wasn’t recorded, but here’s some highlights.

  • He lives in LA Now, and shops at Secret Headquarters
  • Highly influenced by Manga
  • Scott Pilgrim is loosely based off his own life.
  • Snotgirl, his upcoming Image Comics work is his first monthly comic
